Hello from... well... read on and see.

Hello,

It seems that an introduction is a good place to start in these forums.

We (Pete, Danielle and Luca) are about to move to the Zurich area from the Netherlands. Pete starts work in Dubendorf on the 1st October and Danielle and Luca will relocate before the end of the year.

Pete is English and has lived in Denmark (Aalborg) in the dim and distant past. Danielle is Dutch and has lived in Italy and England. Luca is Dutch and as he is only three he hasn't lived in many places - but has travelled far and wide already.

I found the forums whilst looking for someone who understands Swiss employment law who will read through my (german) job offer and sanity check it for me without for a reasonable price. Any suggestions?

Pete

I think your best bet would be Richard for that one. Send him a PM and see what he says.

Hello I take it your job offer is for Switzerland and written in German. If so send me a pdf version of it and I will let you know what is missing.

I guess the first problem you will have is it will mainly reference the work manual which you will not see till you start but that is more or less normal
If it is from a major player UBS CS Nestle etc then you will more than likely get the standard offer.

Note that while it makes sense to have a delayed appearance of your family I would strongly suggest legally bringing them over at the same time. There are certain laws later in the day ie 3 years down the line that are different if your family come simuiltaneously to later. Clearly they will not move just for the paperwork. If you need to deregister form the old place then clearly this is not ghoing to work.

Oh and the charge is a beer

Re: Hello from... well... read on and see.

Mark, Richard

Thanks for the speedy replies.

The offer is mainly in German with a spattering of French and a dash of English. It also includes the standard documents for the firm (CWO in NL) as PDF's so I get the whole picture.

As the employer is a large (and important) national organisation I guess most of the standard stuff is pretty straightforward. I am simply looking for a sanity check before signing (as I have a phobia for signing things I don't understand).

Payment by beer is good. Would you prefer Swiss beer or should I pack some Beligian stuff before we move?

Pete
