| | | Greetings from Zofingen..
Hello everyone!
I'm new in this forum and I'd just like to introduce myself, I'm from Manila, Philippines but here I'm residing in the lovely town(??) of Zofingen. I've been in Switzerland for 2 years & 7 months (about 2 years of which were spent in school). I'm currently doing (oh, more of struggling to finish, because of the language barrier!!) my second bachelor's at the university. 'Til then I guess I'd stay unemployed & dependent. Although I'm dying to get my hands on a job, guess this dream will have to wait a few more semesters.
I came across this forum in google & I think the topics/discussions are very helpful, specially for foreigners that are not yet well-versed of the swiss system and culture.
I think that's about how far my introductions would go.. looking forward to more conversations..
My best regards to all..

Welcome Jeri, always good to get a more international flavour around here - and I see that you seem to be one of the few new members that are NOT from Yorkshire |

Hi Jeri, | Quote: | | | | | I'm from Manila, Philippines | | | | | There is an Asian food store right there in the middle of your town run by a Filipina lady. That should make you feel a little bit more at ease! | Quote: | | | | | but here I'm residing in the lovely town(??) of Zofingen. | | | | | Correction! I think the (??) in that sentence should have been after the word "lovely". | Quote: | | | | | Jeri | | | | | So then, does the spelling of your name indicate you are a woman? Because I live in Zofingen. And I would invite you for a cup of coffee at Spettaculo. Except I'd hate to seem like I'm hitting up on some woman I have never met. I would invite you out for coffee because it's seems like a hospitable and neighborly gesture. I've decided hospitable and neighborly gestures are a new custom here in the New Switzerland. Except I'm a happily married man, though I do have a penchant for beautiful Filipina women, though my wife would probably freak because she doesn't swing or anything like that, but she might want to come along. By the way, am I rambling? Anyway, Padalahan mo ako ng private message and say "Hi!" to Ester at the Asian market! Tschuss!

i've already been to the asian store, didnt have to go inside to know that it's pinoy-owned, the philippine flag up front gave away its identity.. they assumed i was thai though |

I grew up in multicultural L.A. In college, I had a Filipina girlfriend who belonged to a Huge family. She took me to Manila and Boracay and I did not want to leave. I loved it. The people were so warm and hospitable.
Are you planning to stay here, or are you going back after your studies?

Hi Brownie, nice to meet you. I'm one of the Yorkies that lurks on this forum... I just had to post after I saw the power you had at turning PHOS the usually articulate poster that he is into a drivelling wreck!
You go girl !

Nice to know that there are other forum members who don't live in Zuerich, Geneva or Bern.
I live ten minutes from Zofingen.

Brownie | | | | | thanks brownie! will definitely let you know what happens. from what i've been reading on the Employment threads, it looks like i have a great deal of prepwork to do prior to coming in. i haven't had a lot of opportunities to interact with professionals from europe, so i'm making the most of getting as much info as i can from this forum.
i'll only be in for the interview. total time in switzerland is roughly 72 hours. if it goes well, i might be invited again for a second round. i hope it'll be for a househunting trip by then. |
