Moving to Geneva in 4 weeks from UK

Hi all
Looks like I'm moving to Geneva in 4,weeks , unless a miracle happens or I win the lottery !!!
Anyway not happy about the 37%Tax regime but they won't let me use my offshore company -
Hope I won't be too miserable there !!

Jay

For Indian you may want to try Little India.
Rue du Prieuré 20 1202 Geneva
022 731 11 71

We used to like it, but haven't eaten there for 3 years

Hi Marz

Any idea how much it would cost? Champions league and a good takeaway, can't be beaten

HI good luck with the move
Geneva is beautiful not sure of
the tax but you obviously did
your homework.
We only pay 8% on salary here
so seems high 37%
Hope all goes well for you.

@Karl88 - take aways are possible but not like the UK take away culture
Here are a few English speaking pubs in Geneva to get you started:
The Clubhouse (sport)
Lady Godiva (good curries & sport)
The Cube (near Plainpalais - shows rugby games etc so probably footy too?)
Mr Pickwicks
Key & Eagle

Can find more info on life in Geneva on: www.glocals.ch

Good luck all.

Shame Luckily I can cook a good curry myself, although will miss a good chinese.

Cheers for the list of pubs, will be handy if I can't get SKY TV sorted and need to watch the football

Re: Moving to Geneva in 4 weeks from UK

I have forgotten what a chinese tastes like to be honest. But thankfully curries can be found - albeit very expensive ones...tummy growling already at the thought

For Sky you could check out: http://www.haseurope.com/

Also for anyone interested FREE BEER! Just found this so thought I would share:
Free Beer while watching the 6 Nations Rugby

I know I saw a thai resturant on Grand-Rue by Rue de Marché when I was over for my interview - had lunch in an Italian place there too, can only hope there is a Chinese there too

About HASEurope, I have looked at them but they're VERY expensive! I already have a HD box and viewing card ready to come over with me, so I might keep a full subscription at my parents address and use it in Switzerland, from what I've seen it can be done, only issue I'd face is installing the dish.

This will be impossible if you are in rented accommodation.

OP, why are you paying 37% tax? This is the highest tax rate if you earn over one million CHF a year.
