soon-to-be-expat - introducing myself to the EF world

Hello to everyone (seniors and newbies)

I am 25-years-old Software Engineer from Italy, with 5 years work experience.
I can speak English fluently, a good German and understand a basic French.
I have studied Music at Middle school (Piano, Viola, Music Theory, Music Composition) and at High school (in total = 8 years) and I would like to restart playing music, maybe Violin.
I have a bachelor degree in Computer Science, after that I started a work experience as contractor working in own office and I have since then gained a lot knowledge and experience of IT (it is not about working years it is about passion and new things I have learned).

I am currently seeking an IT job in Switzerland - Zurich (being better linked to the city where I live in Italy).
I have started thinking about Switzerland in the spring of 2012... My idea was to start an internship of 3 months to just discover a bit Switzerland and its opportunities.
BTW In at time I was already discovered the EF

So, my thoughts were soon converted in the idea of seeking a job as experienced professional, however in the autumn I was still working on many IT projects as Software Engineer contractor so I needed some months more just to start knowing and understanding all things about work permit, taxation/income/expenses/rent, life/nightlife, job seeking/dossier required, and so on. So I now almost everything about Switzerland and Zurich.

I have started looking for a job in the first of January because I have collected the required documentation only at that time and also because I have finished all projects now.
Now, about EF, my first thread consisted in asking 12 questions to an headhunter and I am still waiting for its reply since it has happened today
However, I would like to make my compliments to this huge and helpful community, I have observed you for many months now, and I appreciate very much what every member is giving to this project, it is a mission to help expats not simply a forum, I ve got it!

When I will get my job, I promise I will start taking part at German courses on Wednesday, to going concert and golf club, and other events I will find interesting, and most important, where I can meet people that maybe one day can turn into a good friend.
I need a lot of friends since I do not know anyone in Switzerland, and so does not matter the nationality, everyone can be my friend (both female and male). It is just that I love being surrounded with a lot of people and speak about everything you will want to share with me.

So you got a new soon-to-be-expat here!!!
I hope to find a job soon, I am still young I just want to discover this wonderful country and making an extremely intense professional work experience.

Thank you to everyone!!!
bye!

Welcome SE and great introduction, that was an entertaining read and congratulations on your achievements thus far. Out of all your interests, don't forget the Alps and make sure to hit the slopes!

You have already done far more research than I and Im here many years. I moved over on a whim with out any planning. Just handed my notice in work and booked flights lol.

Turned out to be a good decision

Best of luck with your job search, I hope you find something soon and can start your swiss adventure!

You know it's a really great thing what you did, I would like also to make the same....really!
it would be simplier for interviews and you can explore more job oppportunities in less time.
but even If I want to be there as soon as I can, I am also a cautious boy so I think it would be too expensive only on my own, and at the end of the 3 months I could be still without a job

The researches I've done was because I needed to know if my dream was viable
so..now let's see how it will turn and fingers crossed!

Again, thanks!
bye
