Hey, thanks .. !
So, been living for the past few years in the UK with my girlfriend (she's Swiss, from near Bern). Working nightshifts in TV, and it was getting too much so quit and travelled the world and now we're here..!
As for myself, I like being outdoors, cooking (and eating) and working on creative projects - writing screenplays, working on films, making music, graphic design, that kinda stuff..
At the moment I am in the Deutschschule in Bern and once I've gotten to grips with the language a little bit hope to get some work.

I have my shoes but I'm also way out of practice so bouldering might be best for starters )

Hey there Irishste and welcome to Bern. Once you get used to the "differences" here, you will find its a pretty cool place to live. Also if you want to meet some people from here, check out the calendar, there is a meetup coming soon at one of the best places to go for a drink here, Tramdepo. Maybe see you there.

I used to go to Magnet Kletterhalle pretty regularly but not so often in the past few months. It is a pretty nice place for both climbing and bouldering. there actually is a thread on the forum with climbers from the bern area so you might want to check that out also ( Rock Climbing in Bern)
Also like ChocolateBear mentioned, there are regular meetings in Bern. The next one is on the 5th feb i think. Check the Social Events part

Brilliant, that sounds like a good idea, I will have a look at the calandar and try to come along, at least for a jar or two..!
The Magnet looks like a good place to get some practice in. Might go for a big wander around the greater Bern area, see if there's some rocky areas..

Hey, thanks for that, tonnes of good info there..! It looks like they do a 'via ferrata' in that area - as far as I know it's a pre-existing climbing route with all the protection (hooks etc.) already hammered into the rock face. It sounds very interesting, probably bloody scary too.
Anyway, nice one, and see ye soon

Hi IrishSte, I've actually done one of the via ferrata's in Valais near Sion and it was great - it's around 2 hours away but then you're in the mountains so you can spend a weekend there when the weather warms up. Pretty great skiing there at the moment.
I'm also new to Bern from South Africa, so if you come to the social event I'll see you there.

Hi Irishste,
I'm also fairly new to Bern, hope to meet you at the meal on the 5th. I likewise moved here with my Swiss girlfriend, from the UK and am currently a English teaching assistant in Fribourg but I have lots of free time in the afternoons. I'm also a creative type, but a musician. Which language school at you at?

Cool, well if you ever need someone to practice with i studied German at Uni.
I'm making mostly electronic music at the moment but used to play in bands in London etc. Do you make films?
