Hello! My mom and I are moving to St. Gallen in April. And we are still worried about the jobs we could get in the German speaking part? First of all, our German is still bad. Second, we don't have a good network in Switzerland. I am currently a student, just looking for part time jobs, and my mom is looking for a full time job. Anyone who speaks English in the same area would be of great help.

I thought you had to be EU or married to an EU to just move here and look for work. How will you support yourself while here and unemployed?

We have a family reunion visa.

You can register at you local Arbeitsamt or RAV office. You probably won't be entitled to any training courses, but you can use their facilities to look for jobs

If you're coming here on a family reunion visa, your family here should be a good starting point for a network. They should know the local language and be able to help you navigate the system a bit.

For now, you have a few months so start working on your German skills and get your CVs into a Swiss format. The job market is really competitive here, so you'll want to make sure you stand out from the crowd.
