Hello,

I'm fairly new to Switzerland- I moved to Bern last September (from Arizona) for grad school and am now living in Zurich. I am hoping to find some other cycling enthusiasts out there...anyone into cycle touring? I brought my road bike with me and have grand plans to do a couple of the national cycling routes, the Rhine route to the North Sea, a bit of France.... In my free time of course.

I would really like to find someone - or a couple someones - who is game to cycle about 60-80 km a day (whole trip, any leg of a trip, whatever works for you) and explore along the way. I'd also like to find people in the Zurich area who are up for weekend rides, any length, just for fun. It's a lot more fun to cycle with someone than it is to cycle alone!

If pedalling is your favorite way to spend time, give me a holler!

Hi! There are certainly a lot of cyclists here, doing a search for "cycling" retrieves a ton of threads on the topic. Many of the other cyclists here live a bit closer to you than I do, hopefully they'll drop by this thread to say hi, too. If you ever have questions or a desire to come cycling in the French-speaking part of the country, then let me know.

triathelon club in baden do that a lot in summer - www.tribaden.ch
most speak english. - and baden is only a short 25km ride away ;-)

google veloklub and you'll probably find one in your area..

I'm also a huge cycling and triathlon nerd. I am closer to Lausanne, but for long rides usually travel is involved anyway. I picked up a book on cycling Europe from LonelyPlanet. Has many great suggestions.

I am sad that I have sold my bikes in the states before I left. But, I will be buying a new one here so as soon as the world thaws, I am ready! Love to get togather and ride sometime.

Erin: I am interested in joining you for a 60-100km road ride around the Zurich area on an upcoming weekend when the weather warms up, or is similar to yesterday.

I live in Zurich (Thalwil/ Horgen) area and usually cycle towards the South in the direction of the mountains.
