Re: Interview in Switzerland

Hope the interview went well and he gets the job. We over out here a few years ago in the same way and haven't looked back. It is an awesome place to live and you sound like you have the right attitude so I am sure you'll love it. We just got a dog and did the skn theory course in English as we are still getting to grips with German. It's pretty straightforward having a dog here really as the rules are very clear. I don't think you'll have a problem with dog sitters or kennels either as there quite a few around zug. If you're coming pm me and I would be happy to meet up.

Re: Interview in Switzerland

Thank you all so much for your lovely messages (and PMs). I really appreciate it

I'm feeling a bit on edge at the moment waiting to hear if its good or bad news. I really want us to have the opportunity to live in Switzerland. Ahhhh! For other people who have been in our situation (telephone interviews, then flown over for an interview) how long did it take to get an answer? I know it's different for every company but just so I can get an idea?

Thanks x

I think it depends on the company. Usually they will tell you how long it will be before you hear from them again at the interview. "xxxx, thank you so much for coming here. We still have a few candidates to talk to, but we will get back to you before the end of next week" for example...

Hope the interview went well. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you Judging from your location, it looks as though you've recently been in a similar situation? When do you move over? Are you excited?

Re: Interview in Switzerland

All being well I should be moving over 18th July - I'm excited! My job is set to start on the 1st August! & yeah it was a bit of a touch-and-go situation. I had my interview in December and then had to wait until I'd had my PhD examination (2 months) until I found out if I had the job or not!! But I'm so pleased that I will be moving soon! Cannot wait!
Have you heard anything about your husband's job interview yet?

Swiss companies love consensus, and there may be quite a lot of opinion-seeking before they give you an answer. They may also want to see a number of candidates.

My experience in Switzerland is that you might have to wait much longer than you'd expect to in the UK job market. That shouldn't worry you, no matter how tough it is to wait, just be patient. It's hard to temper your enthusiasm, but just because you haven't heard anything doesn't mean it's bad news. I would wait at least two weeks after the interview before following up, but after that, it's appropriate to follow up every couple of weeks to get a status report.

Good luck!

Re: Interview in Switzerland

I think the offer came for my OH around 10 days after the interview, but we were pretty certain it would come, we were just wondering if it could possibly be high enough to live here...it is a killer to wait for the news, but hopefully you will here something within the next 1-2 weeks! Good luck!

Wallabies, are you still calling Aussieswiss female? I do believe, after all, he is a he. I think only a man could complain with that much vigor

Re: Interview in Switzerland

Thank you for all of your replies. It seems the norm to wait a little longer for a decission, so I'm going to try and be patient My husband had an email this morning asking for a breakdown of his current salary/package and has been told they're meeting to discuss early this week ahhh!

To Girlhascake! Exciting times for you. I bet you can't wait. Good luck with it all. I'm sure I'll see future posts from you

Re: Interview in Switzerland

That sounds promising! And I hope you get the news you are hoping for!

Between my final interview and being told that I was the "preferred candidate" I think there was a space of around 2-3 weeks! After the impatience of the first few days wore off, I ended up going on a pre-planned trip to Australia, and I remember having spent the day out in Melbourne and then returning to my apartment at midnight to find a voice mail waiting for me....

That sounds about right! Nothing in the corporate world moves quickly. It took almost 4 weeks before my husband heard and even that was through 'unofficial' channels. Another 4 weeks before a formal offer letter came through...hope yours doesn't take that long. You wouldn't want to miss summer here. I hear it's on its way

Thanks I can imagine how excited you must have been. I wish we had a nice holiday booked to keep our mind off waiting.

When do you think you will have to move if your hubby gets the job? We have an orientation weekend in August when we meet the recolation agency to discuss our move to Zug.
