Hi Everyone from Sydney, my name is Julie and I am currently planning my move to Geneva for July. It is very interesting reading about your lives and challenges in Switzerland. As a non-EU person it seems the visa may be harder to get than first thought, looks like it all comes down to a company being able to and wanting to sponsor you. But I am going to give it a red hot go and hopefully persistence will pay off.
Any hints and suggestions? I am unclear whether the change in laws on Jan 1 make it harder or easier for me.

For all you Aussies in Switzerland who may be missing summer, don't fret we unfortunately had a terrible one, so I hope you have been getting in as much skiing as you can.

welcome. the winter has been really mild. i am praying that we will have a great summer as we have not had one in years. i am from sydney as well and have been in switzerland since 14 years.

Im also from Sydney and went through the same thing last year (I have a Swiss girlfriend). Unfortunatley after 6 months of interviews (face to face and phone), emails and phone calls I came away with nothing. So we settled on her moving to Sydney for a while.

The only possible route I found was business sponsorship or a student visa. Unfortunatley I could get the first and didnt want the second.

Unless you have an EU passport?? If so, then no problem.
