Hi expats and swiss people

Hello, I'm Nelly and I just thought i'd introduce myself. There's this message that says: "Hello NellyBelly it appears that you have not posted on our forums"..."why not take a few moments to"..."engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?" I felt like writing something just to see if this message would go away, I almost felt guilty for not writing something, so here I am I'm just like everyone else, looking to meet new people and make life long friends, or just until their contracts run out
But seriously, I am totally stoked to get to meet new people and enjoy the exciting and fabulous Zürich life together

Thanks a lot JBrady! I appreciated your message. Where abouts are you, in Zürich? May ask what brought you to Switzerland?

Note to forum users....99.99999999% of people from California do not speak like this. I'll leave any other observations I may have to myself.

Welcome Nelly and good luck!!

Re: Hi expats and swiss people

Thanks for the welcome message Stewy, I appreciate the good luck wishes

I passed by Bern yesterday and it made me think back to when I went to see and feed the bears. Can you speak or understand the Bern german dialect?
Thanks, Nelly

Re: Hi expats and swiss people

(total segue here and a terrible attempt to make a joke) The Bern dialect may be slow, but I reckon that you sir, are a sharp shooter. Val Kilmer completely mesmorized me with Doc Holliday in the movie Tombstone! (I love your picture!!!)

Then maybe I should move to Bern because slower native german dialect speakers are much easier to understand! And then I can actually have a shot at staying in the conversation. (I wouldn't move to Bern because I love Zürich and the town I live in too much, but I like to visit Bern)

You seem to have no problem understanding and speaking with people here, Nelly, even if it is a faster dialect -- I have been impressed!

Glad you're getting active with the forum now... It really is great isn't it. Hope to see ya again soon.

Re: Hi expats and swiss people

Hey Hillseeker,

Thanks for the compliment. You sound so adorable speaking the high german and swiss german! Guess I should have mentioned the dialect. No matter how hard I try (which is proably 30%) I can't do the swiss german thing. Can you believe I like speaking high german though? And yeah baby, I am good!
lol
