Hello all.

We're an English family, currently living in Berlin, and considering a move to Switzerland (probably the French side, but who knows). We have 3 young boys, and want them to grow up being able to ski every weekend throughout the winter.

How have those of you who've moved with young families found life in Switzerland? Does it live up to expectations? I'll post separate questions on the appropriate forums re schools, accommodation etc, but just wanted to say hi.

Hi Switzerland is so beautiful i love living here, and would never go back to th UK to live UK, but i know alot of people here that have moved here with children, and the children pick the language up in no time, and settle in no problem.

Have you thought about the Zürich area? If you are in Berlin, am
I wrong in assuming that you speak some German.

Zürich has many jobs, and the city is a bit more international
than Geneva in my humble opinion.

Make a list of why you truly want to move to Switzerland. Wanting three kids to grown up skiing every weekend is a good reason if you are looking to produce the next Bode Miller but slightly weak reason on it's own. This country has lot to offer besides skiing. Once you get here I recommend you to embrace the beautiful naked dance that mother nature performs daily in Switzerland.

If you get the opportunity to move here, I'd say: "Take it!"

It's a great living experience. Some things are done differently here but you'll learn soon enough. Anyway, the Forum is here to help you, thanks to its late founder, Mark.

Children seem to do very well here. The fact that I've never met so many new babies in my life does somewhat attest to something along the lines of "a great place to bring up a family". (Could I get any more vague? )

Thanks for the replies - all very positive. Skiing is just one thing on our long list of reasons for wanting to move to Switzerland, but didn't want to list them all! Thought about Zurich, and it's still a possibility, given the German link, but I'm looking at the sunniest places in Switzerland as well, and Zurich doesn't seem to tick that box. Shallow, I know...!

Hi! I am thinking about moving to Switzerland too.. probably Lausanne.. I have a 4 year old kid and Im moving alone with her. Have you found out anything about kindergardens? How it works in Switzerland? And how much it cost every month?
And Im also wondering how much a 1 bedroom appartement cost every month down there..Anybody who knows that?
