Thanks, I have been using that for tax comparison earlier. The part where it gets tricky is balancing higher rent against lower tax and distance - or rather travel time by car or public transport - to workplace. I guess this is not a new problem under the sun but not knowing the different communes doesn't make it any easier. Therefore the shortcut of "someone else" knowing an approximate salary threshold when kanton Zug starts to pay off sounded attractive.

In any case I think I have a rather good overall picture which I just need to spell out in a spreadsheet. When I arrive I'll probably toss the whole spreadsheet and go with something that's suitable.
