Hi anyone living in Sion/Sierre/valais area

Hi
I am quite new to this forum and we have just bought and moved into our holiday house in Vercorin. We are a family with 2 boys 9 and 7 years. I would love to meet anyone in this area. We will be coming here quite alot for the holidays and it would be great to meet up. I know that quite alot of people in this forum seem to come from Zurich and I have seen very little from Valais region.
We are so please with our new Chalet and I have worked really hard to get it set up with all the furniture etc.. We sold a house in France and came here mainly for the skiing. The snow has been really good, the lifts closed on Sunday which was a shame so we have been exploring the area. Vercorin is a lovely village, really old and has a great family atmosphere.
I have just managed to get onto the internet so have had to check what has been going on in the forum.
We come from Northumberland in the UK. I have my own internet company selling artistic inkjet paper for your printer, it has been going for 5 years now and buying a house here gives me a little restbit from the stress of running a business, if you are interested the url is www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk. My husband is a fencing contractor in the Uk and can only spend about a week at a time with us on holiday so I spend quite a lot of my time on my own with the children.
I was a Chalet girl many moons ago with Super Travel in Verbier, I loved it and can't believe I have come back to Switzerland.
Love to hear from any like minded people
Lots of love
Swinburne

I have never been to Vercorin, but last summer I spent a week in St-Luc, not too far away. I hike, rather than ski, and my books suggest that there are great hikes near Vercorin, in the Val de Réchy, so I may explore the area this summer.

Re: Hi anyone living in Sion/Sierre/valais area

Congratulations on getting a holiday house in what must be a lovely location. Based on the other threads I've read on this forum of people trying to do the same thing, I imagine that it can't have been easy.

Are you aware that the Tour de Romandie profesional bike race is going to hold a major mountain stage in your region, finishing in Zinal, on Saturday May 3rd - the family might enjoy going to watch that if you're around. If the kids aren't too keen on it to start with, then just tell them that they can get free stuff from the train of advertising cars that will pass by about 30 minutes before the cyclists - the kids always love running around picking up everything that is thrown out of the cars for them. The race is a pretty major one, usually with many of the major stars competing. That stage is sure to be the deciding factor in the race, so it should be a good one to watch. The riders will be spread pretty far apart on the last climb and going at a moderate speed rather than them all whooshing by in one big peloton.
