Brit au pair moving to Zurich

Hi I'm Aimee

I'm moving to Zurich in July as an au pair and and would like to meet people as I will know no one. I'm 23 and currently working as a teaching assistant. I'm from Leeds in England but currently live in Sheffield where I did my degree in Fine Art.

Can anyone give me some advice on where to go out, what to see, where to meet people. I am new to all this and getting scared (but excited!) as my move draws closer.

Any other English au pairs with any advice?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Aimee x

Re: Brit au pair moving to Zurich

Hi Aimee,
what a random coincidence. I am also moving to Switzerland in August but to Neuchatel in August. And get this At the moment I live in York and am a Teaching assistant. Likewise being from the Yorkshire I am worried about where and who with I am going to socialize and obviously drink with while I'm out there. It's all a bit scary but worth finding out.

Welcome to Switzerland and the EF

There are a lot of social events organised by the form, just keep an eye on the calendar. No problem to meet lots of new friends there.

We have a one year and live just outside Zurich. My wife worked at the International School in Kilchberg before we had a baby so depending on what you are looking for she should be able to introduce you to a contact at the school or other mum's in the area who maybe looking for childcare.

Hey I'm moving to au-pair for a family near Neuchatel for at least 12 months. I'm not going to know anybody there either but am really looking forward to making new friends and exploring everything. Good luck!
