Welcome to the EF Amy. Why not start an au pair coffee meet up, on a regular basis in Zurich?

Interesting. There is a very long tradition of Swiss girls getting to the UK to work there as Au-pair to learn English. Boys until 1971 could get over to London to work as voluntary-employee for a year, but when Britain left EFTA this got blocked. You had to get to a school in London and pack whatever you had planned for a year into 3 months

Hi Amy! Welcome to Switzerland. There are a few groups on Facebook for Au pairs here, some specific to region, and they are a great place to meet other girls

Welcome to the Switzerland and the EF, Amy.

VERY relevant. An aunt was in Britain as Au-pair for some years in the 1930ies (until late 1939) and then again in the 1950ies. Another aunt was in Britain from about 1925 until 1935 and then in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan until 1938, and my favourite uncle was in London from 1922 until 1934 (from 1935 until 1945 in Budapest)

RELEVANT is that Swiss Girls for ages went as AU PAIR to Britain

To me, British Girls coming to Switzerland as AU PAIR are amazing

Yet not at all relevant for a young British au pair coming to CH and wanting to meet other au pairs.

I've met British and Irish au pairs since I came here nearly 20 years ago, it is neither unusual nor amazing.

I'd like to think there are some "liberated" lads also here to work as Au Pair

In the 1950ies, 60ies, 70ies, the idea that British Girls could come over to here as AU PAIR was bizarre and exotic and utterly weird while the other way round was perfectly normal
