Indians in Lugano (TI)

Hello all,

I'm an Indian currently staying in UK. I will be shifting soon to Lugano for my new employment with my family. Wanted to know if there are any Indian families in Lugano or Ticino canton so that we can meet. It would be nice to know people from same community.

Thanks,
Murali

I know some, but they only speak Italian (grew up here, as did their Indian father).

There's a very friendly indian guy with a stall at the market in Locarno selling food, I also heard they have a shop nearby.

Re: Indians in Lugano (TI)

A great new little takeaway just opened up across from USI (the university) - I believe the proprietors are Sri Lankan - good people!

Re: Indians in Lugano (TI)

I can confirm the indian take away is really really good, very authentic, great prices. Highly recommended (Tom get your ass down there and ask for the spicy stuff). I'll post up a few photos soon.

Here's the location on Google maps

Re: Indians in Lugano (TI)

here's a photo of some grub from the little indian place mentioned above. A nice prawn curry, rice, dahl and 2 types of veg all for 9 francs, and the portion is actually bigger than it looks.

Re: Indians in Lugano (TI)

After an appointment at Ospedale italiano yeaterday I followed lofty's typically helpful advice and sampled the Smily (sic) Indian take away.

I confirm that the couple running it are Sri Lankan.

In addition their advertised opening hours are:

Mon - Fri 9.30 - 15.00, 18.00 - 22.30
Sat - 10.30 - 15.00, 18.00 - 22.30
Sun - 18.00 - 22.30

Closed first Sun of month.

They deliver, Tel. 0765130497/ 0779685825.

I had the curry of the day, lamb. I would have preferred a greater curry/ boiled rice ratio nut I suppose the very reasonable price of CHF 9.5 would increase !

They are not strong on publicity so I have uploaded photo's.
