A little introduction. I'm not one to spend a lot of time on forums, but I have found old EF threads very useful for answering a lot of questions in moving to Zurich. So I thought I'd introduce myself, maybe add to some of the advice of others and maybe meet some people. So a few things about me...
Myself and my partner moved to Zurich from London over the New Year period. I guess we are both 'young professionals'. My partner is working in Zurich while I'm currently unemployed but looking for a position in (mechanical) engineering.
We don't have great language skills but we have both started an evening class with the hope of picking up German quickly.
One of our big motivators for moving to Switzerland is our love of outdoor sports and especially the Alps. We have been skiing every weekend since moving here, we are loving Engelberg in particular at the moment. We're always looking for more people to do any of the following with, skiing mainly at the moment; I'm not a great skier but can always get down!
- Backcountry/off-piste skiing
- Ski touring
- Alpine climbing (summer)
- Climbing: training indoors or outdoors when it gets a bit warmer.
- We're both running the London marathon in April and hoping for good times. If anyone would like to join us for weekday evening training runs or can suggest a good running club that would be great!
Currently as far as general Swiss life-admin goes I'm battling my way through (and I'm finding the forums useful for) getting our car/van through its MFK, house/flat-hunting and trying to understand insurance.
So thanks for reading.
