Newly moved to Baden

Hi,
I am new to Baden and would like to introduce myself. I am a Life Coach, love walking and biking in nature, movies and cultural events, and meaningful conversation. I am hoping to meet others in Baden and to learn more about the area and community. Let me know if you are interested in taking a walk or getting together for tea/coffee. (I'm available a couple of mornings and afternoons in the week as well as after work times) I see there is a once/month group that meets for a drink on Tuesday nights but unfortunately Tuesday nights are often busy for me. I would also like to know what is available in English in Baden, for example exercise or yoga.
Thanks for the tips.
I look forward to meeting you,
Devorah

Hi there.

Welcome to the forum.

Many of us meet through kids or dogs, or over a beer in Zurich.

From a fellow American living near Baden, I wish you a warm welcome. My wife and I walk to Baden on a regular basis. If you ever want to join or meet-up please let me know.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Devorah and welcome,

Because of big companies like Alstom and ABB, you will meet many English speakers in the Baden area. Some groups meet in Baden on Thursday nights for drinks in local hot spots.

Cheers,
Huss.

Hi Devorah

Welcome! I've been living in Baden for the past two years, but will have to move very soon, as I was transferred by my employer. You will love Baden and the people here. Enjoy every second.

I don't know which specific discipline of yoga you follow, but Baden is well known throughout Switzerland for being the "capital" of Blaue Kuh yoga, an indigenous discipline founded in the late sixties by the famous Rajastani guru Bernard Hoffstettler.

More vigorous than most American forms of yoga, the Blaue Kuh method involves gorging on cheese before each session in order to induce "Unbehagen", a state of mind and spirit considered necessary to achieve true "Aufklaerung". The session then begins with reverse spinal pokes and octagonal wiles before moving onto more difficult positions such as the Wetterfrosch, the Schabziger and the Aerdoepfel (the last being almost impossible to achieve without several years of practice under a fully qualified Master).

I'm no longer in contact with any of the Masters of Baden, but if you walk into any of the local restaurants or bars and ask after "Herr Schafseckel", you'll be sure to find someone who can help you.
