New to these forums and soon to be Switzerland

Hello everyone,

After being very much a UK home bird all my life, I've ended up with a job in Switzerland starting shortly near Solothurn.

Wanted to introduce myself and wondered if anyone else was in or around that area?

Be good to chat to anyone already there about what it's like really as I'm still pretty nervous about the whole thing.

Cheers
Richard

Welcome, and don't be surprised it will take you sometime to adjust.

You will miss a lot of things you took for granted, but hopefully you will find things here you like more.

Hi Richard,

My husband and I are moving to Solothurn (for his work in Zucwill) from New Zealand he arrives in June and I will follow in September. Rene is Swiss and I am originally English however we have been in NZ for the past 30 years. Maybe we can catch up

Susie

To help your husband a bit, ZUCHWIL has only ONE "L" and the "I" is a looong one, while the "CH" in German is a Kind of combination-letter, rather transliterated as "zk" ... not only important in Switzerland but also in Germany (Aachen, München, Lörrach)

pronounciation & spelling and grammar ? Do not take such things too seriously. Important is that you use your abilities and try. And never hesitate to place a counter question !

I can safely say after being here a few weeks now its going about as smoothly as I expected.
With it happening as quickly as it did I still have to find a more permanent place to live but other than that most other things have been straightforward enough Having folk I wok with also from the UK has helped with some of the more local things to look out for.
