Hello from a newie in interlaken

G'day! thought i'd drop a line to introduce myself to the forum..
i'm a 26 year old Aussie girl who has just moved with my swiss boyfriend to interlaken. I am taking german school in thun but otherwise have a lot of free time whilst trying to achieve the impossible (obtaining job sponsership here!)

I am keen to hear from english speaking people living nearby and if there are any social events/activities on in interlaken...

Tshuss!

Wow, there seems to be a lot of Aussies in Switzerland now! Welcome!

I think Thun is an absolutely beautiful little town. Not sure about employment prospects there, though. You're probably more likely to find work in Bern.

Good luck with the German classes :-)

I found it quite difficult to get interviews in Bern without the language. Good luck with the lessons, and make the most of the personal tuition from your boyfriend!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I live in Thun, so if you fancy meeting up for a beer or three sometime, let me know!
Also why not check out this thread: Bern Livers & Lovers - we are meeting in Bern tomorrow.

Re: Hello from a newie in interlaken

Thun rocks! Especially living within the castle walls.

It has everything that you'd ask for in a city all within a pleasant strolls distance. And the number of mullets per capita will keep you entertained for hours.

- Interlaken -
Activities: Almost any sport you can think of!
Nightlife : Sehr sucky. Go to Thun or Bern for it, otherwise Balmers (** groan **), Funny Farm, small bar on same street as incasa immobilien...

Enjoy

Re: Hello from a newie in interlaken

Thanks for your tips everyone!
Unfortunately, my job efforts have not proved so successful and i have permission to stay here only an additional 3 months!

But i am making the most of my time here and the German lessons, but will be dragged back to the UK again until my partner and I decide to marry or until i can find some other way in!

Is the Bern group doing anything for the Euro's?
