Moving to Zürich (Londoners, Barceloner-Talliner)...

We are a couple who has been mostly living abroad. Hanging around with the languages we speak -English, Estonian, Catalan, Spanish and Russian)- without much trouble in Europe, we are certainly panicking about learning German!

We have lived for many years in London after some time in NY, where we met.

Everything will be very new, we know, and although we ar becoming -obviously- older, we are excited about my husband's new job -I just wish to find a job quickly!

We are very glad to see the activity in this forum. Be patient with us, since we have to learn a lot -but we also search our own sources to avoid to kill you with repeated questions....- and we hope to be able to reciprocate somehow soon!

We always spoke about how great it would be to live in a place like Switzerland, but time approaching now to the date of our move I am sure I will miss London (and I missed NY a lot when we moved to London) as well.

Hope the transition will be easy, to master German soon, to find a job soon and to deal with everything we have to these next months in the smoothest way possible.

Well, this is us. If you need a Paella, bbq tapas party, or anything we can help.... here we are!

Kindest regards,

babel

Welcome to EF

Don't worry about learning German too much, you can survive in Zurich easier than some other places.

There are other adjustments, I found harder. Like your local supermarket has less selection than a UK petrol station.

And as a friend said "It's cheaper to eat the money than go to the restaurant"
