Considering moving to Zug area

Hello,

I am about to sign a contract with my employer (Biotech/Pharma) to move to the Zug area for a few years. I'm from the US and currently living in Boston. I've been wanting to live in Europe (again) for quite some time and am excited for the potential to live in (one of the) most beautiful countries in the world.

I'm married (we are mid-30s), we don't have any kids yet, and we have a one-year-old Hungarian vizsla puppy. We love exploring the outdoors and cannot wait to wander the Alps on foot, snowshoe, or ski.

I've been browsing the forum for a while to learn a bit, and I have already learned a lot about life in Switzerland and the forum itself, not limited to:

1. Make sure to introduce yourself (check)
2. Search before asking (and even if you do, some cantankerous soul will verbally bludgeon you anyway so get used to it)
3. Don't tell people your income
4. There are a lot of very helpful folks willing to take the time to share their experience

Looking forward to learning from your collective knowledge and hopefully contributing as well!

Welcome to the forum, Zug is a nice area to live so I'm sure you'll enjoy it there. By the way, how much will you earn?

Hi,

Welcome to Zug. It's beautiful here. I've just discovered that there is a big percentage of English-speaking folks in my complex here in Oberwil. We have Bostonians, New Jerseys, Indians, myself, Canadian.

Happy to help anytime.

Tracey

Yes,welcome. Zug is great and the expat community quite tight. (Hi Tracey!) I've been here for 4 years now and also work in pharma. What company are you coming to? (We may be colleagues!) Anyway, if you need any advice or tips etc, please feel free to contact me.

Good luck
Nick

Welcome to the forum.

Check in the Pet Corner section for info on the mandatory SKN course you'll need to do for dog owners here.

Check in the Finance/Taxation section for info on what problems you'll hit being an American in Switzerland looking to open a bank account now that FATCA is here.
