Uk to Basel. Trying to learn German.

Hey people.

I did write a short intro a while back but it was brief and boring so here's another with a bit more info.

I moved here in Basel two months ago and did my first months of intensive German at Migros. Before coming here I had no knowledge of the language at all so it's quite overwhelming but I'm staying strong. I then managed to find work! Couldn't believe my luck. Working on the road construction. That lasted 2 weeks, due to my bad German and no one could understand me or I them. It was a real kick in the teeth for me and I was feeling really down about the whole situation. So I'm now doing a second course in German and continuing to search. In England I was working as a welder. I also did my own sculpture work and photography.

I'm now starting to struggle in finding things to do, I have a lot of spare time now as my second German Course is only 2 times a weeks in the eveinings. I have made a couple of friends in Switzerland so far but it's not as easy as being in your home country. The launguage barrier is a pretty big issue. If anyone in the Basel area wants to do something then give me a shout. I am a very keen photographer. Love street photography so a photog buddy would be sweet. Love art. Music and all that other good stuff. 30 years old but younger at heart. I come from a small town call Stroud in the Midlands. In Gloucestershire. Always willing to meet up for a beer or coffee.

Thanks peeps

Setho.

Hi Setho
For an idea about finding work, you might like to look at [ZH] Where to find simple jobs (cleaining / baby sitting / pet sitting).
Of course, you'll need to see whether or not that'd be your cup of tea.

Hi Setho and welcome to Basel.

I'm not too much into photography and you wouldn' t be able to practice your German with me but if you fancy a frame or two of snooker or want to grab a beer let me know
