USA to Switzerland, looking for friends :)

Hello EF!

I just stumbled upon this website and I am relieved to know there are other English speakers in the same situation as me! I moved to Switzerland, specifically Rapperwsil, about a month and a half ago. I am still getting used to the cultural differences and slowly learning the German language basics, but so far, I really love it here.

I'm originally from the Midwest and have moved here to begin my Master's degree in Business Development and Promotion in English at HSLU (oh, and my boyfriend of 3 years lives here ). Therefore, I'll be traveling to Luzern 3-4 days a week. I am also beginning a German language course next week. I'm excited for the school year to start but from the information that has been provided to me, I do not think any of my classmates are native English speakers. Hopefully this will push me to speak German more quickly!

I'm in my mid/upper 20s and enjoy a variety of activities. In addition to friends, I am also looking to babysit and/or teach English to young children. Please message me if interested in chatting (or getting a coffee or drink ).

Cheers!
Kate

Welcome.

Good luck on your studies.
jump in feet first.
Enjoy.

And learn to ski if you haven't already. We Midwesterners were deprived of vertical growing up, so take advantage of the opportunity. You won't regret it.

Re: USA to Switzerland, looking for friends :)

Welcome to Switzerland and to its most chaotic forum.

I'm a part-time Michigander, actually Swiss, just got back via Chicago a week ago after several months in the Cherry Republic. My OH is a genuine Michigoose, flying in again next month.

We live in the southern part of the Canton St. Gallen and on the Grand Traverse Bay in Michigan, seasoned transatlantic commuters, dog included.

I wish you all the best with settling in and starting school.

Hi - how have you found the move? I hope you are settling in smoothly.

I moved from NZ earlier this year and I love it here - although there is plenty to still figure out!

I am in my late 20s and based in Seefeld - it would be fun to have a coffee/drink in the city. I am actually catching up with an expat friend for some chill drinks this evening if you are interested.
