New American arrival in Zurich

Hi all! I've been reading English Forum for a while as an on-and-off visitor to Zurich, but now that I'm a resident, I thought it was time to introduce myself!

I'm an American (most recently from California) who just relocated Zurich to be with my husband. He's also an American, part-way through a two-year position at ETH.

I'm here for the birth of our first baby in November: being together here for birth and my subsequent maternity leave sounded a lot better than being mostly by myself in the Bay Area... even with the trade of 70-degree sunny weather for often-dreary Zurich fall and winter.

But, this is a lovely place (even with less-than-perfect weather), and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better.

Cheers!

Re: New American arrival in Zurich

Great to have you here elsabel. Winters aren't that cold in Zurich, though I suppose if you are comparing it to the Bay area.. The rain and grey weather can take time getting used to, but sunnier places are a short car ride away. Hope you will connect with some members here (I've seen lots of Mom get togethers being organized here). All the best wishes for your new arrival!
