THREE CUPS OF TEA (G.Mortensen& D.O.Relin) It is a book about a mountaineer who ends up at a small village, after a failed attempt to climb K2 in pakistan and starts to build schools for poor villagest in far regions of Pakistan and Afganistan.
Personal note: I enjoyed reading this book , it is inspiring and advetures and powerful , i guess you can see further comments on this books in Amazon.com

THE FORGOTTEN GARDEN(Kate Morton) again check this out in Amazon.
