Moving to Zurich in the new year

Hi Guys,

I'm really new to this just found out to start a thread!!
I'm moving to Zurich in the New year so I need all the info I can get with your help!I am thinking of teaching English there so hopefully everything pans out as planned, though I have a lot of work to do as to get my certificate and with no basic German It will probably be tough to start off but i'll try my best

Hi there
I have just moved to Zurich last week, and literally you can find everything you need to know about moving here on this site somewhere - it is very very helpful, and people will tell you anything you need to know. Without basic German it is a bit of a struggle though - if I was you I would try and get just a few lessons under your belt before you head over, it makes a huge difference, and if people here can see you are at least trying with their language I have found them to be a lot more patient.
Having said that, most people in the cities will speak some English - so get to know the phrase 'Sprechen Sie English?' (do you speak English) well - and most of them will reply 'yes' in english. :-)
Best of luck

Welcome to the Forum.
That wasn't a bad start at all! An Introduction posted in the right place, a title that actually told us something, a greeting without questions added - Brownie points galore.
The German and 'teaching English' plans will give you plenty to sort out still. I agree with SamanthaR that showing you're making an effort with the language makes a good impression, even if you don't get very far before you have to capitulate - the words run out. A good phrase book can be a help even if they are really intended for holiday-makers.
Good Wishes for your planning the great leap forward.
