Hi Everyone,

I moved to Gland, VD a couple of weeks ago with my husband and 2 children (5 year old and 2 year old). I am really keen to meet other parents and particularly for my children to get to play with others. They are used to school/nursery and lots of music groups etc so being alone with me all day is a bit strange!

If you have any suggestions on playgroups, coffee mornings, parks etc please let me know. I have a car so driving out of Gland isn't an problem. Your help would be much appreciated!

sorry, not in VD but in AG:
the gemeinde has most of the info. they even have a list of babysitters...
also in our local newspaper, all the groups etc are listed.
what you can also try are vereine (clubs) don't know the french. we have a club for young parents that arranges trips to interesting venues e.g. bee farmer or fire brigade. kids enjoy it and the parents get to know each other. it has been our most effective way to mingle with the locals.
oh and the swimming pool, for some reason that has been a great place to meet and then chat etc. we were lucky with wonderful weather...

Hi Zoe, have you tried contacting the International women's club of Nyon, they have a mum's & tots playgroup. Also in Nyon there are several other mum's & tots groups in english. I have two boys aged 7 and 4 and found these a great help!!.
