I arrived in Basel two weeks ago to work here for a year. I enjoy playing Irish music (banjo, mandolin, tin whistle) and am looking for some traditional musicians to perhaps start a session in Basel. Please get in touch if you are interested and maybe we can organise something.

Have you tried the Irish pubs in and around Basel? Maybe they have some useful contacts.

Paddys (http://www.paddys.ch/basel/) on Steinentorstrasse used to have a regular traditional music session, but not sure if they still do them. Drop by and ask at the bar.

Ryans (http://www.ryans-irish-pub.com/) over the border is Wiel also has many music events and maybe worth a try.

McGuinness's on Elisabethenstrasse has live music and occasionally the locals join in, so there seem to be local musicians in there. I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to arrange something.
