| | | New(ish) welsh guy in Zurich
Hi all,
Well, I've been here for 4 weeks now, and Zurich is quality, nice place, nice people, etc. etc., but I don't as yet know many people (yet) (hence being in on a Friday night).
So if anyone knows of things going on, then let me know, and if there's any welsh people out there then give me a shout, its always good to catch up with fellow country men and women!
I look forward to hearing back from you soon,
Osh

Welcome Osh
as above, keep an eye out on the social events and you'll find plenty going on, especially in Zurich.
BTW, I will be in Cardiff in a couple of weeks, any good pub (real ale) recommendations?

Thanks, and small world, I'm not from Penmaenmawr, but I am from Denbigh, so a little bit further over, but still North Wales though. So is your husband a welsh speaker?

Hi Mike,
Thanks, and I can't really say I've ever been to Cardiff more than once or twice, sad I know, but there are no real road links between the 2 halves!
But I do hear that there are some good nights out to be had in Cardiff, so enjoy!

We've only just managed to quieten down a mob who kept writing in the peculiar language from the Gaeltacht. Mind you, they did mostly stick to the rules and add a translation - except that MathNut's three lines of Irish managed to condense into a line and a half of English so I think she was cheating us somehow.
Seriously, Welcome to the Forum. We have a couple of other folk from the Land of Song - just a case of catching their eye.

I just love my culture and my language, I was simply saying to keep it alive back at home (and in Patagonia the only other place in the world where it is spoken), and if there are others that speak the language here in Zurich then why not meet up, so chill!!
Anyways, cheers for the welcome!! Im sure you'll want to learn some welsh one day ;-)

In spite of having a Welsh great-grandmother and having enjoyed walking holidays in both North and South Wales, I assure you I have no ambitions in this direction at all. English, German, Swiss German, a bit of French, a couple of words of Italian and trying to learn Greek... that's enough to be going on with.
I hope you find someone to 'chill' with though. In spite of being a happy alien, it is sometimes extra good to feel 'at home' too.

Welcome from a Cardiff born Welshie, sadly I'm a non Welsh speaker though as we lived to close to England | |
