Hello From Fribourg

Hi everyone,
Moved here to Fribourg 6 months ago - I see most of you are living in places beginning with a Z which tend to be on the other side of the country, so already feel cut of!

I'm English my wife is Swiss and we have two children (12 & 10yrs) We have been living abroad for many years and this is our first time in CH as a family,(wife got called back to head office) all a bit of a change for us as this is a "home" posting so we don't have any of the usual ex pat perks and allowances, children are in the local school playing catch up with the language. I'm at home pondering !

I will be reading your posts on all subjects with interest.

Nick.

Re: Hello From Fribourg

Hi from Berne, just down the road a bit. We have several active groups here -
International Club, www.englishclub.ch, etc. and are organising events using http://expat.meetup.com/174/calendar/ We have an outing to Schwarzsee on 20 January and a poetry workshop after this - tell me if you wish to join in.

Natacha Vonlanten of Tafers is starting an English Writers Group with monthly meetings. Maybe there will also be a poetry and book readers club too. Please contact her at tel. 026 – 4940615 or natacha11226@yahoo.com Also see her web page http://www.nous9.4t.com

In the near future she and I and some friends would like to start a TGIF or other monthly meeting at a bar or cafe in central Fribourg. Later if the idea is popular it could perhaps be weekly. Of course it is not just for expats, anyone who would like to exercise their English is welcome.

So please reply to me g.tritt@gmx.net with your ideas

Best wishes for 2008
Graham
