I moved to Zurich from Brisbane, Australia in early January with my husband. While he is at work I am attending to all the administrivia of settling in a new country. I have been using the internet a lot to get information and this site keeps coming up in my Google searches.

Now thats a big change!! I was in Brisbane almost 2 weeks ago and damn warm and muggy - how are you handling the weather here now?

But the advantage is that there is no shortage of water anywhere in Switzerland!!

I'm a Kiwi, hailing from Wellington, now in Lausanne and finding getting settled into work and finding an apartment + managing all that bureaucratic stuff quite a challenge.

I am from Perth, but lived for 3 years in Brisbane and met my wife ( a Brisbane native) there.

We have come to Zurich via London and Edinburgh.

Thanks for all your responses. Adapting to the weather has been easier than expected. Firstly, Zurich decided to give us a warm (10 degree) welcome, which gave us time to seek out some warm clothing. I have invested in a down coat - it is extremely warm - the ducks certainly have it sorted! My second purchase was some water proof snow walking boots. I have figured out that you need to be dressed appropriately to stay warm - so I mostly wear a centrally heated building.
