Hello All from Paul

Hello all, I have been living in Basel for 6 years now and love it here. I am one of the few Gays to get a spouses permit. However after working for 2 years as a pre-school classroom assistant at an International School I find myself out of work. I would like similar work, but not in a home environment, I prefer to work as part of a team with a group of children rather than babysitting for a single child. Some parents & children may already know me as Mr Lovell, Mr Löffel or MR Youdle. All leads will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mr Luuuurvell,

It might not help you much but on www.xpatxchange.ch they are always looking for teachers at international schools. HOWEVER....they seem to be around the Zurich area. Could be an issue for you.

Anyway, good luck & I hope this helps a little.
Ciao

Hiya Paul, if you really like working with kids have you considered a long distance Montessori course. It would be something to be going on with and give you a better chance for work.

Many thanks, I suppose I should seriously consider that option as I am a great believer in the Montessori ethos. Usually you need to be employed at least 50% to take long distance courses, as a lot of the course work is hands on experience. Thank you for the advise

Re: Hello All from Paul

Paul you dont need to be employed, what does help is to find a school willing to let you do your observations. Another option is a part-time work experience position "precticum" while persuing your studies.

P.M me if you'd like a chat about possibilities.

Re: Hello All from Paul

Thank you for your advice, still searching and not thought anymore about studying. I am new to this work and with the first 2 experiences, being bad, not sure if it is worth time investing in studies, the work is fine just the Bosses another story. Still I hear SIS Basel have gotten rid of the head teacher, so maybe a chance will come from that.
