Hello Everyone...

Hello Everyone,

My name is Joyce. I moved to Zurich 4 months ago. I am working in the HWZ Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich as an assistant of the deputy president and a Chinese lecturer as well. On the weekends, I work as a freelance Chinese teacher. Now, I am teaching two kids from Hong Kong. Also, I am completing my BBA degree this October in HWZ as well. I found this website yesterday when I was searching for more info about working and living in Switzerland. I am very happy to find this site! It seems that here are a lot of very useful info and friendly people too.

Besides Zurich, other cities I've lived in are Taipei and Beijing. I love traveling; I've been to Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, UK, US and Australia. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to take a properly look around Zurich yet. I am turning 25 next week and I really want to go for a little trip to Luzern as a birthday gift to myself. But I think I will have to wait till summer time. I am sure I will have a lot of good travel advice from you all.

Apart from my coworkers and friends from school, I am hoping to meet more people through this site.

Kind Regards,
Joyce

I hope you had found things you need and settled in Zurich.

Re: Hello Everyone...

Hello again,

thank you all for your lovely replies. i was very happy to read them. and very nice to meet your all here as well.

Malaysia...oh...a beautiful place to have very relaxing holidays. I really miss it! I visited Kaula Lumpor and Langkawi several years ago. I really love Langkawi, heaven for people to slow down and enjoy nature and some quality time with loved ones.

my birthday is on the 20th, but I have to work on that day...in my school we are going to have a seminar of exchange programs info for students and I am responsible for a lot of it, so have to stay till at least 20.30 I guess...anyway, will do something fun later on than...

Have a lovely day...

Kind Regards
Joyce

Re: Hello Everyone...

Hi Joyce.
I liked the historical sites such as the Forbidden City in Beijing, but Shanghai was really nice. Where did you go in Japan?

Re: Hello Everyone...

Hi Joyce,

Hope you are settling in well. I don't move out untill April but am getting more excited by each passing day. I love Malaysia and spent 3 weeks there a couple of years ago. Kuala Lumpur is a great city with a great ambience. Did you go to the Batu Caves? I ended up there during a Hindu festival and the atmosphere was electric (although the monkeys were evil!!). Spent a lot of time on Malaysian Borneo, Kota Kinabalu is still my favourite town. Also spent time on the mainland but not enough . Can't wait to go back. You have travelled to so many places I too love travelling and am looking forward to exploring Switzerland and the surrounding countries. Have you travelled much in Switzerland?

Hello there...

I stayed in Japan for about 7 weeks. Cities I went to were: Yokohoma, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagano, Osaka, Toyota…and some close by towns and the countryside. I enjoyed the trip a lot. Would like to go back to visit sometimes…

Are you from Japan? Or you went there before as well? Where did you go?

Hello there…

you are coming to Switzerland in April…that’s just several weeks away. You must be getting very excited. Best wishes on packing and other preparation.

Yeah you are right. Malaysia is beautiful! I miss it a lot. I was there for 4 fantastic weeks there and then went to Singapore for 3 days. Singapore is unbelievably clean; I think it’s even cleaner than Switzerland (I am sure a lot of Swiss won’t agree this…hehe)

I didn’t go to Batu Caves, but I am sure it’s beautiful; maybe next time when I visit there…but I did joined a Hindu festival when I visited my friends in Nepal. It was really amazing to see and be apart of a festival from another culture. Last summer I went to Tibet as well, a very special land…2 weeks wasn’t enough for me to discover Tibet…I am thinking about going back some time in the future.
Unfortunately, I haven’t got enough time to travel around Switzerland yet, maybe wait till March or April when I have some time off from school and work.

Have a nice day
Joyce
