Moving to Lugano/Childcare

HI all
I am married with a 3 year old and possibly moving to Lugano. Are there are any day care centres for my daughter?? What is life like in Lugano. We are currently living in the Middle East and originally from the UK. How quiet is it really??

Re: Moving to Lugano

Love Lugano! It's beautiful on the lake and very calm, but nice atmosphere, I think. My fiance's cousin lives there with husband and three young children. I'll ask what the day care situation is for you. I'm sure they would be great resources.

Childcare in Lugano

We may possibly be moving to Lugano. Does anybody know what the childcare situation is there? I have a 3 year old who is used to going to pre-school? I understand the c/care situation in Switzerland is difficult. Please help.

Re: Moving to Lugano/Childcare

Hello,

we have a 3 yr old son who has frequented to a day care in Lugano since he was 6 mths . In local vocab a day care is called Asilo Nido and we were happy with the Peter Pan Asilo Nido . On the other hand they accept children only until 4 yr age after which you have to send them to a school (Scuola Infanzia)

you can see peter pan at www.peterpan.ch

Sassa-

Here is something else you might be interested in knowing about...

"Living in TICINO
The highly anticipated, new and expanded edition of "Living in Ticino"
was unveiled at the June meeting. This is a “must have” booklet for
all AWOT members – 160 pages of advice and listings regarding everything from education, legal issues, and doctors to hairdressers, restaurants,
and taxes. Price is 30 CHF plus shipping and handling. Copies will also
be available at the monthly meetings (thereby saving yourself the cost
of shipping and handling). http://www.awot.ch "

Maybe there is childcare info in there as well.

Also these 2 discussion groups...

For those living in or moving to TICINO:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expats-in-Ticino
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expat-...no-Switzerland

Good luck with your research and HTH!
