I was googling around the internet looking for something to do and stumbled across the site. I wish it had been around when I first moved over here as I can see that it's made a real difference to the English speaking community here. So much information, so many people. A real legacy.

Hello all! New Yorker now living in St Gallen. Not really sure how i found the forum-but so happy i did! met a few great people so far,and its just a beginning!
Think I had typed in something like-any other english speaking people in st Gallen-or something to that effect, while I was online to check my email at yahoo.
Again-just glad I found u!!

Just found this forum today when I Googled for kids' places in Zurich! I will be taking my 3-yr-old there (and to Bern) this summer for a visit with my host family.

by accident...i think i was looking up some reference for my art/book project and was sooooo very distracted with thoughts about moving to Switzerland.
so....subconscious pulled it out from the great interwebulus and i thank the universe, mark and everyone in this awesome forum!

I was using Google search engine to find a place in Geneva that offers tennis and horseback riding lessons .. and this forum popped up in the search results .. And I'm glad to find such a forum ..

Forum found through Google, the search was something like "cost of living Geneve" (1st page), it popped up also on many other similar searchs, always with high ranking.

I found this forum looking for a sublet in or near Lausanne as my first place to stay when I relocate to Lausanne the week of June 23 (haven't found a sublet yet, but hope springs eternal...)
I think I was looking on Google.
Well, I am a 53 (and a half!) year old private banker relocating from Miami to Lausanne for a change of pace. American, raised in Mexico, speak Spanish, French and Portuguese quite well. First traveled to Switzerland in 1972 and have been back several times over the years; just can't shake this irrational desire to live and work there. Married to Gioconda, an Ecuadorean I met at Citibank New York in 1981... not sure she's as enthusiastic about leaving Miami for Lausanne as I...
I love travel, cooking, eating, wine, sailing, hiking, biking, even skiing!
I hope I can be an interesting contributor to your community.

Google I think on pre-move, there are an amazing amount of folk happy to pass on knowledge and experience on here. I know I've had plenty of advice that has saved me a bunch of time, and it's made the move easier as a result  |

Was Googling 'Fly Fishing in Switzerland' and one of the first links was to EF. Joined up and am lovin' it.
