Good Morning!

Introduction time!

Earlier this week the company I worked for went in to liquidation. However one of our clients has been in touch with me and has basically offered me a job with them - in Switzerland! Hence the reason for my arrival on this forum. Having found this forum I am now going to peruse through all the helpful threads that will help me find out exactly what Im letting myself in for.

Im 39 years old and have lived in the UK all of my life (expect for half a year when I was 19 when I lived and worked in the USA). Married to a wonderful lady - who is already excited and is packing her bags.

Interests include the normal walking, socialising, watching sports - mainly football/soccer, etc, but I have also a telent for drawing which I keep my hand in.

Anyway think thats enough for an intro. Oh, and the area we will possibly be moving to is Baar.

Right, now to trawl through and find out how to rent/buy a house, what taxes to pay, and whether or not my good lady can bring ALL of her shoes with her!

Re: Good Morning!

Stay close to the big cities as possible, it's easier for ex-pats.
You've got the right positive approach, and seem open to new experiences. It should be lots of fun !
If you have little ones and wish for a proper UK education, don't worry there are some very good English-speaking schoold here with excellent teachers

Load your suitcase with Shreddies, Marmite and decent marmalade when packing.

Re: Good Morning!

Thanks for all the replies all - am getting more excited by the minute, especially as I detest Marmite! A country that doesnt sell marmite - wohooo! Just dont let the missus know!

We dont have little ones - well we do, but their somewhat grown up now and are fending for themselves - almost! Lisa (22) has flown the nest and is now settled with her boyfriend, whereas Craig (19) is presently living with us and is actively seeking work (whilst he also tends to find lots of time to play on his playstation!). Not sure whether or not he'll come with us - he may prefer to stay here - or then again he may have to.

Have currently found out that Baar has one of the best if not the best curry house, and that a wage of over 100k should see us fine. Also theres a snooker place not too far, so I can continue with that little pastime whenever needed.

Am now trying to understand all the procedures on the B, C and L permits and am also trying to understand how on earth were going to get rid of all the junk thats presently occupying the loft!
