Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum but not too new to CH..... originally I'm from northern California (Placerville, Lake Tahoe). Was an AFS exchange student to Switzerland the first time 'round, after marrying a Swiss, returned. We live north of Zurich but are tentatively planning to move to Zug . I look forward to participating in the forum and maybe even meeting some of you!
Hi!
this is alot of fun - gosh - someone wrote something back! THANKS for the welcome, PC Designs!
You're right - I was MUCH too vague in my introduction - prompted curious questions. So - to answer you - I did come to Switzerland because of my partner, but since I had lived here as an exchange student (with a farm family who didn't speak a word of English), it wasn't as if I didn't know what I was getting in to. I spoke more or less fluent Swiss-German when I met my would-be husband, which by the way was in Paris, France where we both were ex-pats - he working, me trying to learn French while au-pairing.....
ANYWAY - I grew up in a huge family (9 kids) on an apple ranch (first certified organic apple ranch in the State of California by the way.....)... oh - maybe it isn't necessary to go back so far. I'm half-portugee - my dad was born and raised on Madeira Island.
I've been here 25 years - my husband and I are "empty-nesters" now, as our kids have flown the coup. I work part-time doing Market Research for an English company and my husband keeps busy managing a small company here. I try to get to the States every year and a half or so to visit mom and dad and all the broths and sisters....
I love country western music - love to sing and play my guitar - and if there was something I regret, it's not getting a band together or joining a band years ago.
This forum is great - I love this new-found community!
I wish everyone a great weekend!
wow, you've been around a bit!
nice to see you spreading your wings!
So what is your long term plan? hanging out in CH and getting rich or eating cheeze? (you can't get rich from eating cheeze)
