Hello to you all!
As my title says, I am new here in Basel. I had a plan to continue my BSc in geology here at the University of Basel,but but but..bureaucracy came in to my way. Long story short: I can't study yet at Basel Uni because I haven't been studying geology in my homeland, Finland where I did my "Matura" Student Examination. I started my studies in Sweden, University of Gothenburg, and this doesn't count for nothing. I got many "helpful" tips from the Administration Office of Basel Uni: Do the matura in Fribourg, just get a place in a finnish university, continue your studies in Gothenburg to get the BSc and then come to us, and etc...
One thing I decided not to do is to make the matura here, this would be so stupid to go 10 years back in my life, kind of back to the high school-thing. Been there, seen that and done that. But what I will now do is to get the certificate C1 for Deutsch during this year, and study for the tests at the finnish universities, what are held the next spring 2010.
So know, I am a ("student") unemployed finnish woman, who is looking for work here in Basel and starting a life with my lovely swiss partner .
So actually my life is good!
But it's cool to be here in this forum, and write in english. Any hints for job openings etc, I'd be very grateful.

You should try hanging out with the EF guys there in Basel - I was out with them last night and they are pretty cool. Not cool enough for Zurich, but cool enough. ;-)
