Hi All,

thought I'd do a quick introduction, I'm australian, with an american girlfriend (de facto in australia) and we're moving to St Gallen in March 2010. I'm just about to finish my PhD and I've decided to take a job in Heerbrugg, as an engineer.

I've already got heaps of useful information from this site, and doubt that I've tapped all the knowledge here. We're both very excited, but also nervous about the move. I think I'm more excited and my girlfriend is more nervous, as she won't have a job and is worried about finding work. Neither of us speak german, but we're looking forward to the adventure.

Gidday mate and welcome to the forum, a place of eternal wisdom A job in Heerbrugg? It can't be much else than with Wild, right? As for the language: You must have been extremely lucky to find a job without speaking German. I suggest you give it a very quick go, this applies especially for your girl friend; otherwise her chances will be very limited or even down to zero.

the girlfriend/fiance is going to do an intensive german course before we go, but I'm just flat out of time so will have to rely on her for a while
