Re: London to Basel via Stuttgart

Fantastic and very honest reply. Thank you.

I want my family to be comfortable and it will be an adjustment. However, the benefits of multilingual children and the opportunity to show my family there is more to the world than a Walmart and Chic-filet fast food joint. Plus, the people at the office are great.

I think it will give me a whole new perspective on life in general.

Thanks again!

You are making a great case for my potential move. I am bouncing around the positive and negatives moving from the US to Basel. My German is none and I'm bringing the wife and kiddos.

I keep thinking this is an experience, what would I miss, can I handle a radical change like moving to CH.

Thanks for the encouagment!!!
Your kids will learn Baasel-Tiiitsch very swiftly and then teach their parents about it as to them it will be THE easy thing in the world

Re: London to Basel via Stuttgart

I've just spent a month or so travelling around Asia, including a couple of weeks cycling up through Vietnam. Arrived back two days ago and ... C permit waiting in the post for me.

Five years.

Re: London to Basel via Stuttgart

Hi there,

Prob silly question, but did you apply for the 'C' or did they send it automatically?

We are heading to renewal no 6 in Aug and hope to apply for ours as well.

I guess different Kantons also have different rules.

Congrats!!!

Re: London to Basel via Stuttgart

Automatic (I'm British), although they sent me a letter about two months ago where I had to select an option to state what I'm currently up to.

Oddly, almost all options were listed apart from "employed" so I had to tick "other" and send them three recent payslips. Then, about 2 weeks before the expiry of my B permit, the C permit arrived (along with a bill for 105 CHF - Basel Stadt).
