Soon to be new to Basel

My introduction is overdue. I have been posting for a while with various questions about permits and costs of living, but haven't said much about myself yet.

I am 34 and come from one of the countries of the former Yugoslavia (non-EU). I lived in the US for more than a decade (where I met my American husband) and we're currently in France. We have a toddler daughter.

We'll be moving to Basel in a month and I'm excited. I just got my entry visa this week and am trying to learn the ropes in order to make the administrative details go smoothly. Apartment hunting scares me - is it really that hard?

I'm a scientist and I think I'll love my future job.
Looking forward to meeting some of you in person.

Re: Soon to be new to Basel

Hope you enjoy your time in Basel. Apartment hunting I found to be ok. We visited Basel a couple of times to check out areas. Found our apartment through Homegate whilst still in the UK and checked it out first day I arrived and it was perfect and straightforward to get the lease....maybe we were lucky

Welcome! I'm following you (to Basel!). It seems a lot of people are arriving in Basel soon if the posts on this forum are anything to go by. The economy there must be doing well.
