Re: Only one in Biel/Bienne?

actually my duty on the committee is to be the club's chef as well, so if you fancy the Lasagna on Wednesday give our President a call ( the number is on the website--> Programme) to reserve your place,so far we got 14 people on the list

Also, we invite people to attend about 2-3 evenings with us for them to see who we are and only then we ask them to join up as members.

A years membership is :
150.- Active Couple
110.- Active Single

Active membership allows you to attend every event, sometimes a little cost additionally is involved, such as drinks from the bar or at Eating Evenings we charge a small fee to cover the costs and the small profit goes into the clubs till, so for example the Lasagne evening will cost approx. 10.- for the food + whatever drink you'll get at the bar.

Passive Membership ( which is basically just supporting the club ),allows you to attend the x-mas Party/dinner and the AGM.
is
40.- Passive couple
30.- Passive Single

The committee, really tries hard to assemble programmes that cover a wide range of interests and activities for everyones 'taste'.

We are one the the few clubs of the www.fasc.ch hosting weekly events as well as having our own club premises at our disposal.

If you need to know more........ask me

Cheerio

Re: Only one in Biel/Bienne?

Hi EastEnders

I'm sure you're already preparing Lasagne for tomorrow night, I won't be able to make it Brugg tomorrow but save me some in a tupperware! I think we will have to come and visit you sometime (not sure on the aspargus night though)...

Do you have any more details on who took over the mothers and toddlers group and what they run now... I have a daughter of two and a half and a son of about 7 months and would like for them to get around meeting kids around here.

Seems you do quite a service for the english speaking community... nice.

Oh and the May Bowl... is that green bowls or ten-pin? White pull over or bad shoes?

Re: Only one in Biel/Bienne?

Howdy JonJon

Grin....that Eating Evening actually happens at the clubroom,as all Club Foodie events to but I am happy to welcome people to my home as well, just like that.

Maybowl,is what I'd call a simple Social Night.......it's a drink conncocotion mixed of elderberry syrup, prosecco and strawberries ( sometimes i also provide nibbles to go along with).....each gets a glass and then you just sit and have a natter with those present.
I think Ieven once posted the recipe how to make it somewhere here on the Forum.
Asparagus is as always.....green and white ones,Sauce Maltaise and dried and cured ham to go along with

It seems there is quite an interest for the Mum and Tots meetings, I am going to ask Ingrid if I can PM youse all her cellphone /email then you can easily get in touch with her and inquire when the next meeting will be.

See you then sometime soon

Re: Only one in Biel/Bienne?

You're an early riser!

Count me in for the Maybowl is sounds like a drink ready for summer, I'm going to have to go hunt out the recipe if you say it's around here somewhere, just to educate myself before the event of course

I'm sure we'll be seeing you sometime soon...

Re: Only one in Biel/Bienne?

Dear All,

Spring is right around the corner and I'd like to propose that we meet again to have some coffee and a chat while our kids play. There are two new moms that are interested in meeting other English-speaking mommies, so it would be great if we could all give them a warm welcome in Biel.

Date: Thursday, March 25
Time: 3 p.m.
Place: FamiPlus, Unterer Quai 1B, Biel

The cafeteria is usually open, but feel free to bring snacks for the kids.

Hope to see you there!

Re: Only one in Biel/Bienne?

Hello,
I'm Nick from St-Imier (BE), in CH for ten years, I just found
the forum after hours on Google trying to get info on how to
re-new my UK Passport.
I go Biel/Bienne quite often for socialising as my villiage is tiny
with very little oppourtunity for social outlet and meeting new
people as I was used to in the UK being from east London.
Had a look around and this looks a good forum with info and
advice.
ATB, Nick.

Hi West Ham Nick, after ten years the culture shock of East London to St. Imier must have worn off a bit now, have you been up there all that time? I was in La Chaux-de-fonds for two years and thought that place was pretty lost too, plus all that digging my car out of the snow lost it's fun after the first winter!

Sometime Saturday or Monday is good for me if you're suggesting a bit of a gathering, Sunday morning is reserved for Formula 1 in Malaysia and then the rest is taken up with a 60h birthday lunch thing... I'll be drunk by 3pm...
