Hi All!
I’m Rocky and it’s time I introduced myself. In the Fall, my partner and I relocated to Lausanne from New York (I’m American). He was transferred back here by his employer, so I left my real estate development career (perfect timing anyway) and have entered a leisurely and temporary early retirement here in Switzerland.
I am 32 years old, and enjoy skiing, working out at the gym, studying French, architecture, travel, cooking/entertaining and good old-fashioned beer drinking. As I am not working, I am also open to new hobbies, meeting people, day trips, etc.
Lastly, I should really thank all the organizers and contributors to this forum as it has helped me with several reference topics in the past few months. This is a fantastic resource!

Welcome.
Sorry to hear that you like beer drinking. You are a bit too far south for the good beer. IMHO 
Try the local wines. They are fresh and cheap. If you like that sort of thing. The area around Lausanne is packed with vineyards putting out all sorts of nice palatable wines.
If you are really free with your time and have extra money kicking around you could take up sailing this summer.  That is what I did last summer. It won't cost you more than 1000.chf to become qualified. You can't sail boats with larger than 15sq mt. sail area with out a license. I was told that I had to get a license by my wife so that we could go out next summer.

Hi Rocky! Welcome to Switzerland and welcome to the forum. It's a beautiful thing to retire to Switzerland ;o).
It seems that lately the EFers from this part of Switzerland (I live in Gland which is not far from Lausanne) has really stepped up the social networking/events. Please come and join us, it's always so lovely to see a new face!
