| USA to Geneva in September
Hi all, I just want to say I'm glad I stumbled on this forum in my online research. In September, I start school at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. I've read great things about Switzerland so I'm fairly excited about the move – and avoiding the stress by not thinking about the logistics of moving right now. I’m partial to temperate climates and the opportunities for outdoor activities sound great. I like swimming and hiking, and I may take advantage of Lake Geneva right there and pick up sculling again. I've been in Washington, D.C. the past four years and have many great friends I'll miss, but I'm ready for a change. A frequent question I get as a native Californian is why I choose not to go home to many people’s idea of paradise. I guess I want to see the world and visiting places as a tourist isn’t good enough. Most of my experience has been in Asia since I studied in T’aipei and Beijing while in college. I’ve also been to other places in East and SE Asia for work or holiday. I don’t know anyone in Geneva right now so it might be nice to meet a few people if there’s a chance. I plan to move in early September, but there’s a chance I might leave in August and spend two weeks in Bordeaux to brush up on my French. I look forward to seeing you all around the forum.  Ben  |
