Hi everyone - just a short intro.
We are a family of 5 moving from Mauritius to Bern by the end of March. The kids already live with dreams in their eyes about skiing and skating - and we will surely give it our best as well - our previous effort is a long lasting family discussion about our ability to balance on snow and ice
I really just want to say a BIG thank you to all of you for such a lively forum. Most of the things I know about life in Swiss I gather from this forum. It is just great.

P.S. In English, the name of this land is Switzerland. The people, those 'foreigners' who allow us to live in their lovely country (albeit occasionally somewhat unwillingly) are the Swiss.

Oh, I do believe you about that shock. A couple of things might add to that shock of which one is just the weather. We are currently melting away at 33 degrees C with 94% humidity, waiting for a potential cyclone to form just north of us.
We have been living in the southern hemisphere all our lives and going to the northern hemisphere ..... is going the other side of the world - even the cresent moon is upside down and there is no southern cross in your milky way!
Believe me I will definetly not say no to any help.
