Salut from Yverdon-les-Bains

Hi everyone,
My name is Sarah, and I relocated to Yverdon (Canton Vaud) at the end of 2009 when my husband and I got married. He's Swiss and French; I'm American (Texan to be precise). I've spent the last few months getting "bien installée" and starting the hunt for a job. I'd love to meet anyone in the area, so please don't hesitate to contact me. Also, if anyone has any good leads for jobs in marketing, communications, project management, I'd be especially appreciative!

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

Sarah

Hi Sarah, and welcome to Switzerland ! While waiting for a job you could visit one of the spas in Yverdon, I've heard that they are good

Hi Sarah,
Hope this finds you well! I relocated to Switzerland from the US this year as well - due to a job transfer. I have been hoping to meet some Americans here in Yverdon - but hadn't yet - so was happy to see your post!
Many thanks!
Angie

Hello Angie,

I know many people are asking same question but it looks to me that you could honestly share at least what you know from your personal experience.I am trying to find information on what really need to be done in order for me to make transfer from US to Switzerland.I am in Hospitality business, to be exact, I am F&B Executive for past 15 years, working for some prestige names in Hotel Industry. Can you please try as best as you can, describe what steps should i try or could try in order for me to make this really possible.I have family and our wish is to move to Swiss and knowing how hard is, I welcome any info that could help.
Thanks,
OM.

Re: Salut from Yverdon-les-Bains

Hi Sarah,

I also moved to Yverdon "recently" (been here since Feb 2010). How is your settling-in going? (over one year on now!) Still enchanted with the Swiss?

I'm a Canadian lady (mid 30's), and always happy to meet fellow "over the pond-ers".

If you're interested in meeting up for a coffee sometime in Yverdon let me know.

All the best!
Cheers
Alexandra

Hi Sarah/Angie/Alexandra,

My husband and I moved to Yverdon at the beginning of this year, and we would really like to meet other people here. We are originally from the US, and we came to Switzerland for my husband's job. Let me know if any of you would like to meet up sometime.

Thanks!
Krystal

Re: Salut from Yverdon-les-Bains

Wow, Yverdon is turning quite Cosmopolitan all of a sudden! As Kamarate says, very close to Neuchatel - so maybe a joint event in the Summer on a beach half-way could be fun. Or up t'mountains- we are just over the other side of the Jura, and would be very happy to organise a Swiss style BBQ in the Summer over here.
Yverdon is small- but is a great location, by the Lake with good beaches and water sport, near Lausanne, Neuchatel, Fribourg, with great public transport (train to Geneva just under 1 hour), a nice medieval part of town, a spa, mountains and skiing (cross-country and downhill - hmmm when there is snow, this winter is VERY unsual) just up the road. BTW you can do a tandem parapenting flight from Mauborget to Yverdon, great fun. Enjoy.

Re: Salut from Yverdon-les-Bains

Hey there guys, I know this thread is very old but I'm hoping to receive some replies
I have just moved to Yverdon, i'm going to be interning over here for the summer. I am studying in the UK and am here for the summer hoping to meet some fabulous people, very international and open minded. If anyone is around and is up to follow the football or grab a drink, please do reply back

Bonne soirée as they say here !

Hello,

We just bought a house near Grandson and would love to meet any other English-speakers in the Yverdon region.

Please PM me with your details so I can send you an email.

not out of a sudden. the town of Yverdon and and the City of Biel, within 50 years, moved UP to remarkable positions. What helped is their nice location . Important for both was the extension of the network of Highways --- Biel by car can be reached from Zürich within an hour, Yverdon from Zürich AND from Geneva within 90 minutes

Re: Salut from Yverdon-les-Bains

Outside peak times, Yverdon to Geneva is less than 1 hour.

Anyhow, hello and welcome- lots of younger EFers in Neuchâtel who will make you feel welcome, I'm sure. I live in the mountains above. Next time our grandson is over from the UK, I must come down and take a picture with him by the village sign.

Re: Salut from Yverdon-les-Bains

Hello all you (not so) newcomers to yverdon, I haven't been on this site for quite a while but if I had seen these posts earlier I'd have been the first to create an event in yverdon. I've been here a long time and even longer in Switzerland. I'm Irish and in mid 30s (on the younger end :-P ) and love the social scene accordingly ;-)

So if any of you are still interested in meeting up, drop me a line...

PS coucou odile, long time no see :-)

Corina
