| | | Hello from some Swedish newcomers
Hello everybody at the Englishforum!
We are a Swedish family wo will move to Switzerland during this summer. Place of living is still to be decided but will be either around Zug or in the Thalwil-Kilchberg area.
We are currently living in Brussels and both of us are currently working in the pharmacutical area. Besides Swedish we are speaking English and German.
We are very much looking forward to take part of this forum and the gathered experience from all of you.
All the best
Alvarez

Welcome to EF and the forum,
it seems the quantity of Swedish people are growing in CH all the time. I know a few around the Neuchatel area.
Good luck with your final move!
Any questions about CH, feel free to ask.

Welcome to CH.
I met a Swedish girl who has lived here for two years, she said that there are a lot of Swedish people in Switzerland - so hope that you'll feel at home.

Jag har inte träffat många Svenskar här, men I Zurich för bara 16 månader.
Jag bodde i Kålltorp och utstuderade på Hvitfeldska Gymnasiet.

Didn't know it was against the rules to greet a new member in his native language

fduvall | | | | | It's not against the rules, we normally ask that you also include an English translations so everyone can join in the conversation.

That is acceptable. However, I looked through all of the FAQ's, and saw nothing about this. So maybe an explanation could be given, rather than coming across as my grade school teacher...
Not trying to be argumentative, and nothing personal against Evilshel, but I have not been here that long either and have not seen any notice or information about how to conduct a "dual language" conversation.

fduvall | | | | | The actual policy is in this thread here. Basically it just says to post a translation when writing foreign words (of any language other than English) so that everyone can understand what is being posted.

OK - I have read the thread. Two comments...How does one find this thread without being referred to it. Like I said, I read all of the FAQs and saw nothing about posting in foreign languages. Second...I find it somewhat ironic that the person that "rapped my knuckles" is the one that disagreed with the policy.
Come on...this is supposed to be a site that is informative and fun for the users/participants. I do not want to continue to take this thread off topic ( I participate in several other boards and do not tend to create problems), but I do like to give a reality check when I feel that the spirit of the board is not being violated. Any further discussion, I would suggest that we take offline as I want Alvarez to feel welcome here.

Irony does come around sometimes and give us all a good chomp on the butt
Funny how I find myself enforcing rules which I have disagreed with in the past - but that is a part of being a mod, doing what is for the greater good of the forum, not just for one's own personal beliefs
While I still don't believe every instance of every word needs to be translated, to maintain some order in the forum, whole threads shouldn't be conducted in another language.
I think everyone here wants Alvarez to feel welcome - these comments have absolutely nothing to do with that! In fact, I was going to pop on with a hejsan myself ... until I noticed all of the Swedish in the thread |

fduvall | | | | | Not to take this off topic any more than needed but as the question was asked and the answer probably helpful to our newcomers. Things such as policies , guidelines etc are to be found in the Forum Support - Announcements section which can be found here.

Tjena Alvarez!
Hello Alvarez!
Välkommen! Jag flyttade hitt alldeles nyss. Verkar som att man kan träffa andra svenskar via nordics.ch.
