Canadians in ZH?

Hello,

I am a finance investment professional and will be working in Zurich as of August. Are there any young Canadians in the city and where do they hang around?

Can't wait to return to Zurich as I had my internship there and loved it! I travelled Europe and Zurich rocks!

Welcome back to CH and to EF.
By your post, you don't say how old you are but I am sure if you look for some of the yahoo groups in CH (or zurich), you'll find many groups which may interest you.

Re: Canadians in ZH?

Hey there,

I'm Canadian, in Zurich, and 25. Once you get here, you'll probably discover that there are more of us around here than you would have thought. And if that's not enough, there are always those Yankees and Brits to satisfy the anglophone side of you. Don't tell me you're moving across the world just to find a nice group of Canadians .

Anyway, good luck with the move over and all the paper work that comes along with it. This forum is good for all sorts of practical stuff. Maybe I'll catch you around at or outside of one of the Cana Bar nights in Zurich (Why wasn't there one this week, anybody?)

Re: Canadians in ZH?

LOL, I was told that plenty of Canucks play hockey in Zug In terms of searching for an apartment, what area of the city do you recommend for the "younger" foreign crowd? I lived around the Hottingen area while doing my internship in ZH. Great place...anything else close to where the action is and is not too boring?

Re: Canadians in ZH?

Well, you may actually know the city better than I do since you've done an internship in Zurich already. I live in student housing with a bunch of cool swiss guys and girls. I actually just moved here 6 weeks ago and still figuring things out myself. Anyway, I figure with a bike, public transport ticket, or cab fare, everything is within reach. Zurich, the city proper, isn't all the big, especially if you're used to North American cities.

Re: Canadians in ZH?

I'm technically Canadian having been born in Saskatchewan (more specifically, in "New York is big, but this is Biggar") - but I was exported to the UK at 15 months old, so I have no real memory of being there. And, I'm in Zug, not in Zurich. But other than that, hey, I count, don't I??!
