Coming to Switzerland

Hello, I'm arriving in Switzerland next week. Feeling excited but also leaving the family behind in Australia for the next 3 months so a bit of mixed feeling.

Work days will be fine but I don't know what to do on the weekends. Hope to catch up with members of this forum. I like motorcycling and mountain biking. I am bringing my MTB but not the motorcycle. Perhaps I can rent one in Lausanne, does anyone know of a place?

Re: Coming to Switzerland

to the EF, javaman.

I am curious about your screen name: do you drink lots of java, or do you program in java? Or is there a third explanation

Oh well, a quick look at Wikipedia reference-linkJava (disambiguation) shows many, many other alternatives

On a more constructive note, there is a thriving EF community in Lausanne, check the calendar (middle of the blue bar at the top of every page) for upcoming events.

A search for mountain biking lausanne gives lots of leads, including several threads on this forum.

...... Ha Ha..... maybe he's from Indonesia?

Anyway, welcome to the EF.

I'm also an Aussie, and the mountain biking here is fantastic. Bringing a bike with you is a good idea, if only to have wheels immediately.

Weekends here are pretty good with some careful planning. NEVER allow yourself to have an "Open Sunday".... nothing is open.

While you're here in Switzerland, keep a close eye on this forum. It really is the best way to find things to do, and how things work, etc.

Re: Coming to Switzerland

Thanks for the warm welcome. Bill is on the money there as I was born in the island of Java. We should've patented that name before SUN did

In fact I come from a small village, only 25k from where the Java Man fossils were found. But yes RetiredInNH... I do drink LOTS of coffee and know a bit of Java programming.

I've just browse through the calendar. It seems there are PLENTY of things to do there . I've just added going to classical music concert! Building speakers is my other hobby.

Anyway.. I'm flying tomorrow!
